To Our Theatre
WHO WE ARE
Skyhawk Theatre was established in the fall of 1999 as a portion of the newest school in the Beaverton School District. Now nearing the 21st year, our Tradition of Excellence endures through our productions and classes provided. ACT WELL YOUR PART - THERE ALL THE HONOR LIES. Join us for our performances, and our events. Discover what establishes the SKYHAWK TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE.
NOTE: While we are currently experiencing covid-19 pandemic restrictions, we will continue to offer Skyhawk Theatre in a variety of forms from Podcasts to livestreams. We are here. We are hoping to end our season with live performances of the Musical - Urinetown.
We would like to acknowledge that Southridge High School, the home of Skyhawk Theatre, rests on the traditional village sites of the Tualatin Kalapuya.
We thank the ancestors of the Kalapuya for being the original stewards and protectors of these lands since time immemorial, and for passing on their lifeways through future generations. We acknowledge that the Portland Metro area has the 9th largest Urban Native American population in the U.S. with over 380 federally recognized Tribes represented. We also acknowledge the systemic policies of genocide, relocation, and assimilation of Oregon tribes, including the Oregon Indian Termination Act, that still impact many Indigenous/Native American families today.
We are honored by the collective work of many Native Nations, leaders and families who demonstrate resilience, resistance, revitalization, healing and creativity. We are honored to be guests upon these lands. Thank you, and thanks also to our colleagues at the Portland State University Indigenous Nations Studies Program for crafting this acknowledgment.
