Mission and Philosophy
The following precepts reflect the philosophy of theatre education in the Beaverton Schools. Our programs, curricular and extra-curricular, inhabit these ideals.
-
Theatre encourages equity, diversity, inclusion and acceptance in the exploration of the human experience.
-
Theatre helps students develop a sense of community and social responsibility.
-
Theatre has the ability to affect students on a personal level by contributing to mental, emotional and social growth.
-
Theatre prepares students for life in the real world by guiding continual development and refinement of interspersonal and intrapersonal skills
-
Theatre communicates the fact that in as many ways we humans are different, we share common bonds and we can connect with everyone on some level, bring new understanding and compassion to our lives.
