Career PATHWAY - Theatre Arts

A student who wishes to pursue a theatre arts career academy through our Pre-Professional program (beginning fall of 2017) may pursue this recognition through several options:

 

Performance Endorsement: Acting I, Acting II, Theatre Ensemble, IB Theatre (test optional), performance in mainstage productions, class productions and a capstone Performance Project (regionals and/or state participations for three years and/or mainstage projects), student must compete in regionals for Junior and Senior year in at least two different events both years and earn a minimum of Excellent in all areas. Student must also enroll in a vocal course of some kind for at least one full year. 

 

Directing Endorsement: Acting I, Acting II, Theatre Design, IB Theatre, Ensemble Theatre, Jr Year - Directing options - A)Regionals/State large/small group musical or acting, group mime, or propose an option; B) Assistant Direct at Conestoga, Whitford, or Highland Park MS (application and interview is required).

Required:  Student must shadow a Middle school, HIgh School or College Theatre Director for 18 hours. (this endorsement began Fall of 2017)

 

Design Endorsement - Costume: Theatre Design I and II, Stagecraft I and II, IB Theatre/Ensemble Theatre; Acting I, Acting II (optional); Costume Design, and Design and construct or assist with construction of costumes for at least one (1) mainstage production Or Ensemble Class production during Junior or Senior Year; Submit designs to Regional and State competitions (earn a minimum of Excellent in all areas). 

 

Design Endorsement -Lighting, Sound, Scenic:  Stagecraft I and II, Tech Theatre (dual-credit), IB Theatre/Ensemble Theatre; Acting I, Acting II (optional);  Requirements- Design and construct or assist with construction of set,costumes,lights, sound for at least one (1) mainstage production Or Ensemble Class production during Junior or Senior Year; Submit designs to Regional and State competitions (earn a minimum of Excellent in all areas). 

 

Other options are available, but all Career Academy Capstone Projects must be approved by the end of the year prior to beginning the project(s).
